Review:

LogicWorks, AS11, SIM11, assembly language, and numerical systems (binary, octal, hexidecimal, etc.).

Note:

Introduction to Digital Systems covers the fundamentals of digital logic design and microprocessors. Specific topics covered are Boolean algebra, algorithms and flow charts, digital logic design, state machines, and assembly language programming.

The class was divided on the clearness of Dr. Arroyo's lecture, but most agreed he was well prepared. Most students found Dr. Arroyo's lectures entertaining.

Dr. Arroyo discourages active note taking since he sends all his notes to the copy center. Also, note taking is difficult because, as the students said, Dr. Arroyo went through the material at a fast pace.

Discussions in class were occasional but frivolous. Examples, on the other hand, were provided often and helped greatly.

The time on exams was very tight and the level of understanding needed was high. Test questions were much more complicated than the homework or examples in the book, and some memorization was required. The students agreed that the grading fairness of the tests was okay.

The lab provided hands-on experience and helped to understand the material in lecture. Most students learned from the lab but complained of faulty lab equipment and not enough individualized help.
